Is Satan a Fallen Angel?

All of my life I have heard sermons about Satan. How, in the beginning he was a beautiful and perfect angel. Then one day he decided that he wanted God's throne. He sinned against God and now he goes about doing all sorts of evil against God's will. The worst part about it, the Church teaches that because of Satan, most of God's creation will burn in hell! What do you believe? The answer is always in God's word. Let's read from the scriptures.

The passages used by the church to show that Satan is a fallen angel are found in Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14. Let's check the scriptures. Ezekiel 28:2 Son of man, tell the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord Yahweh... (World English Bible) Note the scriptures clearly say that God was telling Ezekiel to prophesy against the Prince of Tyre. (WEB) Ezekiel 28:12 Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and tell him, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: You seal up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. (WEB) Ezekiel 28:17 Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness: I have cast you to the ground; I have laid you before kings, that they may see you. (WEB) Let me ask you, Has God laid Satan before kings? No. Ezekiel 28:10 You shall die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, says the Lord Yahweh. (WEB) Obviously God is referring to Prince and King of Tyre because as you know, Satan the adversary is NOT dead nor will he die by the hand of strangers. Christ Himself does away with Satan.

Let's look at Isaiah. Isaiah 14:4 That you will take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say, "How the oppressor has ceased! The golden city has ceased!" (WEB) and Isaiah 14:11,12 Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, with the sound of your stringed instruments. Maggots are spread out under you, and worms cover you. How you have fallen from Heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low! (WEB) Obviously God is speaking against a human here, not a fallen angel. Who is this human? He is the King of Babylon. It says so right there in the scriptures. So there you have it. There is Christendom's proof that Satan was a perfect angel. Again, Satan is not dead with worms covering him. No my brothers and sisters, he is alive and well. Oh, and by the way, when God wants or needs Satan's services, Satan reports for duty!

Job 1:6,7 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. (KJV) What does the word of God say? Satan has access to the very presence God! Satan is going to and fro in the earth. What happens next? Job 1:8 And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, `Hast thou set thy heart against My servant Job because there is none like him in the land, a man perfect and upright, fearing God, and turning aside from evil?' (Young's Literal) Yes, that is right, God Himself is suggesting that Satan test Job. Satan replies that God has put a hedge around Job to protect him. Satan says that if God will put forth His hand and touch Job that Job will curse or renounce God to his face. God knew his servant Job and desired to test him. Job 1:12 Yahweh said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don't put forth your hand." So Satan went forth from the presence of Yahweh. (WEB) If you do not know the story of Job, read it. He lost everything he had in the world except his own life; he still loved God. God Himself used Satan the adversary to test his (God's) servant Job.

But where did Satan come from? He was not a perfect angel, ever. What did Christ say of Satan when speaking to the religious men of the day? John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (KJV) Jesus says Satan was a murderer from the beginning not a perfect angel. Who are you going to believe? I suggest that you believe the scriptures and NOT the man made doctrines.

The Apostle John said: 1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (KJV)

Let us remember what the firstborn of creation did. Jesus created everything. Turn your bible to Col 1:16,17 and follow with me. For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (KJV) Am I suggesting that Christ created Satan? God's word says so! Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. (KJV) There is your second witness.

In the book of Job we get an account of the creation of the earth as well as that of Satan. Job 26:7, 13-14 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent. Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand? (KJV) There is your third witness. Satan was a murderer and a liar from the beginning. He is a created being, God uses him as he sees fit. He was created to be the adversary!

Isaiah 54:16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the fire of coals, and bringeth forth a weapon for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. (ASV) He was created to do evil! He was a murderer from the beginning. When God desired to kill the firstborn of men and beast in Egypt to show Pharaoh his power how did He do it? First He protected those who applied the Passover blood to their door posts, then God had the waster kill the firstborn! Exodus 12:23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. (KJV)

So let's get this straight, the Lord says he will pass through to smite the first born, but the destroyer actually does the killing! And again;  "I have created the waster to destroy." Let us look at one more scripture here to define who had the power of death or who was doing the killing. Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; (KJV) Christ through his death, destroyed him who had the power of death. Who? The devil, Satan, the Adversary, the serpent and the Destroyer!

God tells us exactly who that serpent is: Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him. (ASV) Remember when I commented that Satan had access to God? Satan lives in Heaven! In Revelation he is finally being kicked out of heaven along with his angels.

But God is good and Satan is evil right? Satan is evil that is for sure but remember The Lord created Satan! What about evil itself? (Isa 45:7, KJV)."I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things." (KJV) God cannot sin. The evil he creates he uses for good. He uses evil that we may know him and that he may make his name known throughout the world. It is not moral evil such as the wicked sins of men.

Why would God create Satan to lie, murder, waste, temp and wreak havoc on God's creation? Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness... (KJV) Man had to know good AND evil. Without evil how could we know good? How could we understand happiness without sorrow, pleasure without pain.

Ecclesiastes 1:13 I applied my heart to inquiring and exploring by wisdom concerning all that is done under the heavens: it is an experience of evil Elohim has given to the sons of humanity to humble them by it. (Concordant Literal) God uses evil to humble us!

Want more proof that Satan shows up for work and accomplishes the tasks given to him? Paul mentions two times in scripture of someone being delivered to Satan, once to learn a lesson and the other time in order to save the spirit. 1 Timothy 1:20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme. (KJV) and 1 Corinthians 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. (KJV)

Paul himself acknowledged: 2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. (KJV) An angel of Satan's kept Paul in check with a physical defect or pain.

God our Father and Christ Jesus our Savior have everything under control. Satan cannot possibly wreck creation beyond the plans that God has laid out for him. Jesus Christ our Savior is infinitely more powerful than Satan!

Not only is He more powerful than Satan, He will eliminate Satan at the appointed time and place, but He does not stop there. No, he takes away the sin of the WORLD as well. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (KJV)

1Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. (KJV) Yes, rejoice at those words from scripture: "The Savior of ALL men..."!

If you believe that Christ's Blood was shed for you, that He is the Son of The Living God, that He was dead, buried and raised on the third day, you have already received the gift. Grace is the gift that we do not deserve. Let Him know how grateful you are.

Grace be with you!
